Baker here with some thoughts… individual pie slices are tough to find because they aren’t very cost effective for bakeries to offer…but you can sometimes find “mini” whole pies (4” - 5”) that are pretty good. Bread Furst has a small selection, and local company WhiskDC wholesales their minis at various retailers like Little Red Fox and Foxtrot. Good luck!

You think this would be simple to find, but it’s not easy as pie.

You can get a slice of pie (as well as whole pies) at Acme Pie in Arlington. And you can sit at the counter or a table to eat it as well. I think they also serve coffee but I’m not positive.

Mom’s Apple Pie is very good. We have gone to the Leesburg one— it’s a destination for us because I love pie and the DC area has no good pie. I have tried nearly all sources.

I am a baker and often microwave my pie to reheat for second day (especially if it’s rhubarb). The trick is never to use full power. Use 30% power for 30 seconds, then again if necessary. Full power makes gluten turn to glue or something weird.

I haven't been since pre-pandemic but Kramerbooks in Dupont Circle used to have great pie. I loved their cherry. Do they still have pie by the slice anymore, anyone know?

Their sweet pies aren't that great. The sweet potato is passable. The others will leave you disappointed. I do like their quiche though.

You can get a good slice of pie and cup of coffee from Little Red Fox on Connecticut but it will set you back $6 for a slice and $4 for coffee.

Bob and Edith’s

A baked joint on k street serves pie seasonally and has great coffee. Henry’s Sweet Retreat in Bethesda has a pie of the day every day and you can buy by the slice.

Livin the Pie Life doesn’t do slices, but they have individual pies. They stopped serving coffee and letting you eat there during covid.
