My cousin actually sold her bedroom set. I don't think she recouped much, but someone came, picked it up, saved it from the landfill, and she even got some money back. Lots of newer furniture is just pure crap, so there are bargain hunters looking for quality stuff.

FWIW, when I bought my first apartment, I bought a used bedroom set - teak, MCM. People were getting rid of old and outdated stuff left and right in favor of the modern formica styles. I still have that set.


This is what I mean, it’s solid wood of very good quality. Classic sleighbed.

OP here, very funny. And completely not the case. And I am not selling a mattress. What is your problem. My husband bought it and it was never my style, that’s all. What about I Sold It On Ebay? This should be used, not dumped.


People will definitely use it and it won't go to the landfill! You just aren't going to get much money for it. Particularly since you want someone to come pick it up.

If you sell on ebay, they take 10% profit.

Last year I gave away a solid wood bedroom set. It was difficult. There were several no shows and I had to rerun the ad several times.

How much you paid 20 years ago has nothing to do with how much it's worth to someone today. It's all about functionality (do they need that many big pieces? or just a bed) and how much hassle it is for someone to pick it up.

I Sold it on eBay is going to require that the buyer pay for a shipping company. That's more expensive than renting a truck. People in other parts of the country don't want a matching heaving bedroom set anymore than local people do.

Yes, it should not be dumped. Call A Wider Circle. They will pick it up and it will go to someone who needs it. Now you've gotten it out of your house and it is being used, not dumped.

Take a look at other bedroom set listings to see what the going price is and go from there. If you notice some of the listings are very old then you'll be able to see nobody is interested at that price and set yours lower. But nobody really wants this, they will take it if priced very low because they need bedroom furniture. But this was never an "investment" anyway. Just try to get rid of it any way you can. Buy things you like, don't worry about resale value in 20 years.

Sets like this were basic suburban 20 years ago. People with any eye for design weren't buying big matching sets past the 90s. So not only is it 20 years old and no one wants it now, most people didn't want it then.

The only people who will take this off your hands are people who have literally no other choices. Hence the 'give it away for free' suggestion.

-It's out of style
-It's dinged up and not in perfect condition. 20 years is a long time for heavily used furniture!
-they have to move it themselves, get friends to help, and rent a trailer. A furniture store would deliver for free.

I wouldn't price it over $500 and that's even pushing it.
