Yes, Tesla is run by a jerk. That's why a lot of us who like EVs have been happy to buy the ones made by other manufacturers. Plus, now we can say "pay up sucka!" to you as we drive past the gas stations.

We've never had an issue on a road trip. It's not like gas where you fill the tank every time.

I was in NJ during Sandy. So many gas stations weren’t able to provide gas. People were driving around with empty gas cans to fill up in the ones that weren’t out of power. It was madness.

We just got a plug-in hybrid. I’m not getting a full EV just yet. Best of both worlds!

Coal only generates 20% of the electricity in the US and its pretty localized by region.

Electricity sources in the US:
Fossil fuels - 61%
Nuclear - 19%
Renewable - 20%

I want a Chevy Bolt for our short commute from NW DC to kids school to the office in downtown. Easy to park and charge in our postage stamp sized rowhouse rear yard.

We already have the Subaru Outback for roadtrips.

If I can get a small EV for sub-$25K, we are all in. I should've gotten a Bolt through Costco in spring 2020 when they were leasing and selling them for a song. I think a lease was $2K down and $169/month for Costco members. So dumb!

I would never buy a tesla if it means Musk makes money. He's a complete douchebag. Like staying at Bedminster - I would never do that, either. I wouldn't give 2 cents to either of those aholes.

I'm getting a plugin hybrid. Long distance trips don't make much sense with an EV, even a Tesla. Someone I know goes down to FL in their Tesla quite regularly, and it takes them much longer than it normally should because of the stops they have to make to charge, and also due to looking for that specific charging station.

If you are a two car family, you can get an EV and a plugin hybrid. But, I wouldn't get an EV only.

When I was in suburban MD during the derecho the same thing happened. One has station near us installed solar after that. It's amazing people don't realize has pumps use electricity.

You may have never been stuck in traffic but from my bike days, I remember getting wet, gusts of wind nearly blowing me off my bike and being knocked off my bike by a car.
