We were ready to hire a tutor since Spanish 2 was painful in MS and DC is more STEM-focused kid. DC had first week of school and is telling us that Spanish curriculum is simplified and looks like review of Spanish 2. This past June MCPS conducted or survey of kids opinions of languages. I'm curious to know if MCPS took that feed back and modified the curriculum.

DC is saying the same thing about Spanish 4. DC thought initial few classes may be a review, but after looking at the syllabus for the rest of the semester, says that it appears it is a repeat of Spanish 3.

PP again - I can not find detailed information on the Spanish curriculum at the MCPS website. To the teacher who posted above - any information on the changes in Spanish curriculum (and if possible, Spanish 4 ) - would be appreciated!

Are details available somewhere?

I only have access to the teachers curriculum page, maybe try searching MCPS Spanish 3 curriculum to see if they have an updated page somewhere

Do you think watching the news in Spanish will be helpful? We already watch the news in French, our native language. If so, which TV channel?

Or some other video with content she can guess at based on visuals?

Thanks.

Look up News in Slow Spanish - more easily kept up with!

Ooh, great idea. Thanks, PP.

The Duoling Spanish podcast is really phenomenal too. I haven't found another that I like as well. But if she's struggling with Spanish 2, it is more likely to be a basic grammer issue -- so a really good grammar book might help.
