Dad. He does not do well with tasks at home. (Can't figure out for himself what needs to be done.) So he takes on more of the out of the home type tasks.

If your child is an infant or has a major medical issue I could see this, but both parents attending a routine well visit or for a sore throat etc seems a little obsessive.

Scheduled appointments are usually me. Sick appointments he covers because he can take last minute leave easier than me (i teach).
Major exception is if someone needs a blood draw. He has to do those since I passed out the first time our oldest got one!

Pre-pandemic DW, typically, since my work was closer to home and I have traditional sick leave. DH is a gov contractor who isn’t paid if he doesn’t work.

Now we both work from home, so it’s whoever’s schedule is more flexible that day.

Same DH more flexible and our doc is downtown and he is better at navigating city and dealing with parking.

I (mom) do pretty much all of the scheduled appointments during the week. I have a job that is easier to plan time off in advance. I also cover sick days, but we have had very few sick kid appointments. For urgent care visits for accidents/weekend Illness it’s more split. We have three kids and someone needs to stay with the other kids. A lot of time, doing the urgent care visit is the easier job and DH would rather sit in the waiting room than wrangle two other kids.

When DD was a baby, yes, we both went. Then it was whoever had the time to take off from work. Now that I work from home, it’s me.

We traded off until puberty. Now it’s dad with boys and mom with girls.

Mostly, we both went for the under 1 visits. Now we more or less alternate. My kid's pediatrician is near a grocery store and often one will take him in while the other shops.

I do most of the time because I have more control over my schedule. He does it when he can and he took our two youngest for Covid shots which we knew would be a challenge. He bribed them with a trip to Target and it worked.

Usually DH - he's the main parent. Occasionally one of the kids will ask me to come too, and I will. I went with them for their first Covid vaccines.

Mom/I usually do but my husband will if I don't feel well or don't feel like it and he can. But, then he's texting me so it kinda defeats the purpose when I have questions or he isn't sure of something. But, he tries and I appreciate it.
