NP. I agree with your mother. A nurse at a clinic or hospital helps patients, even (especially) when they are jerks. Loving a person doesn't negate that. That doesn't make any sense at all.

What, no?! Why would you love someone especially when they're a jerk? I'm pretty sure medical personnel tell patients to knock off certain behaviors all the time.

If this guy can keep his attitude in check, OP's husband with a cold should be able to. Lyme disease is known to be associated with some pretty serious psychiatric issues.

My husband is horrible to be around when sick. He acts like he is dying and he is totally helpless. He has never been anywhere near dying. Calling him an SOB when sick would be an understatement. The entire family tires to avoid him when he is sick. We do the bare minimum. We call out his rude behavior and do not tolerate it. Good luck. I hope you both are feeling better soon.
