gosh, parents, you must be kidding offering $20 per hr. Nanny will be spending couple hundred on gas just to get to your place, then she has to pay rent, pay auto insurance and such, health insurance, and then she will still have to eat, and have you looked at the food prices recently? Just go to daycare and do not embarass yourselves with your 20 bucks.

Find the person that you want. Then negotiate what they want to be paid.

I was paying more than that when my eldest was a baby. She just submitted her common app.

$18 to $20 is the standard rate. You can push to $25 for super duper qualified candidates who will go above and beyond.

$18-$22 depending of experience, is the going rate.
You can extend other benefits, if it makes sense for your situation.

Our DC neighborhood does an annual survey to find out typical rates. The most recent rate survey said that for one child, the rate is $23/hour, plus benefits (health care stipend, vacation, commute stipend).

I'm PP 8/30/15:43. No, but less than $20/hr means you are likely getting someone with no childcare experience. If you are willing to go on trust that someone will take decent care of your child with no experience, you can. But if you want someone with experience and references, you are likely paying close to $25/hr than to $20/hr (or under).

You get what you pay for.. 20$ might be a provider with no experience with children let alone babies who cry and may snap. Mom would get a better pool of applicants paying market rate and not being cheap with your suggestion of 20$. Everyone else has disagreed with your price point btw rate is 25$ starting per hour

Every daycare worker in HoCo is paid $13/hr at the highest costing daycare center. Are they all baby-shakers??
