I wish that the school would inform parents of trips with more advanced notice for planning and budget purposes especially with multiple kids.

Friend with kids who graduated with the last three years. These cost $700-800 per student out of pocket. Booster fundraisers do not handle this trip.

I knew this was coming. NP here. The high school trips and in our case it was going to be an international HS trip (pre covid). In anticipation, we went on a family trip to Europe for not any more $, knowing I would then feel better saying, "no"

You should sign up to chaperone.

What school is this? I'm glad to hear FCPS is approving overnight and out of state fieldtrips.

You don't want your kid to be an outliner. Shy kids, especially, do not benefit from being cast as an outliner - that should never be done by their parents. If the group is going, your kid should go.

I would love some educational field trips for kids. NYC, Chicago, anywhere but Disney.

I don’t see a problem with traveling so far as much as I do with the expense of traveling that far every year.

NP - I’m more concerned about being able to afford such a trip. Why do these programs have to travel so far away to an expensive venue?

At least one of my kids in the music program will likely drop the class if this happens every year which it seems to at our school. It will be the final straw. He likes playing his instrument but wants nothing to do with his band classmates.

What happens to the kids who choose not to go?
