Ok! My ideal is a guy who doesn’t make much money and is really bad at managing what he does make. He’s a big drinker and watches tv all day and gambles for fun. He wants lots of kids but believes the old adage that they should be seen and not heard. He’s never boiled water and his washing machine is his wife (haha). He’s got a big beer gut and a short temper.

I posted above, I’d say DH has a lot of the qualities listed but not all of them. I think my experience pretty typical for both men and women, after all you are marrying a complex human being and people aren’t perfect.

Women want guys that are rich, tall and in great shape.

I want to see a woman say her ideal guy is middle class or poor.

Disagree. I was madly in love with a man who was very short (maybe 5’5) and not at all conventionally attractive, but he had amazing character and values. An overall kind and amazing person. We broke up because I wanted kids and he didn’t.

Funny but empathetic and compassionate. Hard working and driven but also has interests outside of work. Likes actively raising kids. Tall, dimples, decent shape but not ripped. Loyal and devoted. Smart but humble. Responsible, caring, considerate.

Ugh. There is the notion, and perhaps some reality, that opposites attract, but over time extreme differences wear on the relationship. I’m not interested in being someone’s better half.

PP here. This is me and my husband, though. We do balance each other. We each have strengths and weaknesses and we work as a team. I have ADHD and have been on a long journey to better myself. I’m a good partner. So is he.
