No they dont HAVE to take a language in MS.
They do at TJ due to the IB program.

Come again? Which school? That's not how it worked for my kids in APS middle school.
6th graders are no longer offered language thanks to budget cuts (new in 2022). For 7th and 8th graders, it is optional. The regular diploma in HS has no language requirements (only the advanced diploma requires it).

TJMS is the exception to this. Language required all three years because it's an IB program requirement. Plus a "design/tech" elective.
