just get a townhouse in a nicer area if you have 900k to spend. You could literally buy in bethesda off the capitol cresent and a few blocks from downtown.

Also at 900, there may even be parts of the palisades in budget, though that has airplane noise.

This is hard to find. Walkable is rare. "Good" schools are generally suburban and not particularly walkable. If walkable, then very expensive. Maybe Falls Church City? Not much inventory there though.

OP said walkable to school, few shops and library this is possible if you buy a house near Poolesville high school.

No, it doesn't have "walkable" downtown like Bethesda. It's small though, so certainly though you could find a house within a mile a library and elementary school and some stores/restaurants. There is no supermarket in Poolesville though, so for that you're looking at an 8 mile drive.

I'm not in love with this specific house, but the neighborhood hits your criteria. Walkable to both DTSS and Takoma Park, walkable to the middle school and on direct public transit to the high school (which is sometimes faster than the school bus).

First one is walkable to both MS and HS, and town center, but not the ES

Second one is walkable to all the schools and town center, but it's not as nice (price reflects that). But, that's a good location.

For 900 you can get a 3BR townhouse in Arlington.
