We bought a Spirit Wear t shirt and shorts so that DS would bring those with him. DS liked the Spirit Wear but not changing. DS went to school in tshirt, shorts/sweats and sneakers and that's what he wore in PE. So at Parent Teacher conference we asked the PE teacher to "encourage" DS to follow the rules and change.
PE teacher smiled and said, you know, all we want is for kids to be dressed to move so your DS is fine; happy to check in with him but don't think it's really an issue.... And so the change of clothes remained in the backpack all through 6th grade. Will 7th grade be different? Tonight DS said he "might" change his shirt for PE tomorrow... Whatever -- it's in the backpack. As is the deodorant.
They discourage students from changing in the locker rooms because they can't monitor what goes on in there.
