we had an ikea crib and got a foam crib mattress on amazon. it was great. using it for #2 now

Our kid likes it and it still fits her at 2.5

I should probably also mention the crib took a beating. 3 kids have used it. It's been in our family for 7 years and converted to a toddler bed and back many times.

We had this crib too (2 of them, twins) and used them (converted to toddler beds) until they were nearly 5. They were great. I think I bought fancy organic mattresses but would just get the Ikea one if I was doing it again.

We used Ikea Sundvik crib and mattress, and our 4 year old still sleeps in it (converted to toddler bed). We have had no issues

lots of people are using the ikea natural wood crib these days. it is always out of stock.

i don't see a need to spend lots of money on a crib.

i also don't understand what "first crib" means. i had only one crib that i used for both my kids. it was my first and last crib.

OF COURSE!!! Almost everyone we know used the IKEA Gulliver. It's stylish, affordable, and the side comes off so you can use it as a toddler bed. Our kids have a three year age difference and we used it until our second child turned 4 (7 years straight). We gave it to a friend who used it for 6 years for her two kids and passed it on to another friend, who I think is using it now.


We didn't buy an IKEA mattress, but I'm sure they're fine, you just need something firm.

Didn't end up using a crib but if I had would have gone with the cheapest ikea (sniglar is solid wood) and a different mattress.

My first was born in Europe. Everyone I knew had the Ikea crib. We kept is for the second, who was born here. It was great. Kids moved directly to their queen beds from that crib. Took the sides off as a transition then moved them out.

I have the crib and mattress and like them both very much. I actually was worried the mattress was too soft for a baby (it is much softer than my bassinet) but it seems to be up to spec and I wanted to be sure my mattress fit the crib perfectly because gaps are dangerous. The whole setup is currently working great for kid two as well.

Bought an ikea crib and mattress for grandparents' house. I'd recommend crib but not mattress; mattress is pretty thin (though my son, now 2, has never complained). FYI crib is very light and thus easy to move, which was a plus for us.

Crib mattresses are meant to be firm, not comfy. That is what makes them safe. We had an IKEA crib and different mattress and used them for 2 kids without issue. I don’t understand the point of a toddler bed - both kids just transitioned to a twin bed around age 2.5/3. So I don’t get the appeal of expensive cribs that turn into toddler beds later.

IKEA cribs have a nice clean look for a modern nursery and are good price point. We moved twice and our IKEA crib was easy to disassemble and reassemble.
