I’m a liberal and agree with him 100%. Look at Anna Deveare Smith’s work - she embodies a multitude of characters in her one-woman shows; it’s all about finding our common humanity, as Maher said and honestly, that’s what theater is all about, and what makes it do powerful for actors and audience alike.

This “wokeness” is so, so misguided.

Well I happen to think that those changes in cultural ethos and zeitgeist aren’t positive ones. I really do grow tired of how the vocal minority have changed things, and we all have to fall in lock step with it. Enshrining this new (and incredibly annoying) way things are.
