Big range between peace and quiet and John from down the street launching his football across the pool to Liam at the opposite end. Just toss a water ball across a reasonable space and save the long throws for your backyard.

The people that do this in the end of the pool where there are little kids who either 1) can't swim or 2) are just learning how to swim are extremely rude. If a little kid just learning how to manage moving through the water got hit by a ball, yes even a squishy one, it could totally disorient them.

If it's just adults or older kids who can at the very least stand well above the water, then it's still rude to me, but less of an issue.

Most private pools it's not allowed except in designated areas. Squirt guns aren't allowed either.

I was just doing this this past week with my kids. It was a squishy water ball. I had no idea it was frowned upon.

Wait, are you talking about regular balls or water balls. My kids play water volleyball with a squishy ball that wouldn’t hurt anyone, they even get hit on the head all the time with it, it’s harmless. All the kids in the pool enjoy playing with it and I’ve never seen it hit little kids. They usually play in the deeper end away from babies. If you’re talking about regular balls, then sure, a football to the head could hurt an unsuspecting pool goer. But otherwise, where else would you play with water designed balls?

What a juvenile comment. No, it’s grown men throwing these things across the pool at their kids who can’t catch them so they end up hitting little kids or landing right next to some baby’s float or flying into people just sitting on the edge of the pool. You can toss your ball back and forth in a section of the pool without making everyone else watch out for your stray ball.

I agree, op. I joined a pool that has no ball throwing in the rules.

It’s so inconsiderate. It makes it unsafe to swim in the pool anywhere near the ball throwing.
