Didn't realize it had opened! It is the closest Wegman's to me in Bethesda, but need to drive- how is the parking?

I love our exurban wegmans. Although the prepared food has gotten to be pretty pricey. Our giant is awful with nasty produce. Have never been to Mom's so can't compare. My favorite is Fresh Market but it is too far for regular shopping.

Hopefully things will improve with time.

I don't like the smaller, urban stores (like Tysons & Eisenhower Ave in Alexandria) at all. Too small. Not enough selection of 'regular' grocery products. (Haven't been to the NW DC store yet, but I assume it's similar).

The bigger suburban stores, however, are truly fantastic. Lots of choice, lots of international products. I live in Cap Hill & would rather schlep to the huge PG Wegmans than shop at my local grocery stores.

My sister in law talked me into ordering platters from Wegmans for a family get together. They were reminiscent of 7-11 sandwiches and the fruits and vegetables were tasteless

If you see produce that’s not locally in season where do you think that comes from?

From out of state but from small family cooperative farms.
If they have same products like supermarkets from big corporate farms and distributing it at farmers market it is deceptive business practice.

Yes. Do you see fruit being grown around here? Strawberry season was months ago. Apples are in the fall.

I disagree. I live near the Tysons Wegmans and I far prefer my local Giant.

The McLean giant is one of the best there is.

Yes, it is true. Most sellers are the farmers market will tell you this themselves if you ask them. Otherwise, look at the boxes in their trucks. You’ll see most of the produce is coming from far away in boxes labeled “peaches from Georgia” etc.

+1. Ask the farmers what is local, what do you grow yourself? They usually well tell you.

The bakery, butcher meats, and prepped for dinner meals are better than any of the other stores in a 2 mile radius, but we'll continue to shop union at Giant for staples.

I live within walking distance of the DC Wegmans and very occasionally drove to the Wegmans in Germantown/ gaithersburg. As point of reference

I agree the new store is only an approximation of an OG Wegmans. I can’t put my finger on exactly why though.

Since it’s close I’ve had much more opportunity to try Wegmans branded processed food than previously (cheese, popsicles, flavored sparkling water, yogurt, cereal) and 100% of it has been cloyingly artificial tasting in a way that the same things from WF, MoMs or even TJs are not.

Like a cup of greek yogurt at TJs might be correctly sour with a few blueberries. The Wegmans version smells like Febreeze “Blueberry Mornings” and tastes like jolly ranchers.

Also the baked goods are cheap and full of fillers
