I donated our dog’s food and fairly new dog bed through a mutual aid group on Facebook. We kept her bowl and kongs. Tossed her collar, leash, soft toys and anything else that couldn’t be cleaned well.

If You're not planning on getting a new dog then throw the stuff out.

I’m sorry about your dog. You can offer everything on your local Buy Nothing Facebook group and people will come pick it up same day.

We got rid of all before taking the dog to the (dreaded) appointment. Threw away the leash and collar as we exited the appointment. It was just too hard - you will not want to see *any* dog things after, certainly not immediately after.

Donation is good in theory but many things will not be used by another dog (due to their having the scent of the previous dog on them)

I have a painted portrait of our dog, along with her favorite toy and the plaster cast of her paw (from Lap of Love) sitting on the mantelpiece.

I cleaned up her toys, leashes, beds etc quickly. I gave the extra food to the shelter. She shed a lot so I ended up throwing out the blankets because the fur couldn't be completely removed. Some washed toys I left on a picnic table at the dog park. Some specialty medical books on blind dogs, I gave to the vet.

saved a few sentimental items -- collar, leash, toys.

Washed and donated a lot of other stuff and Saved some for new dog.

New dog liked different type of toys, more of a chewer.

I'm sorry you're going through a difficult time with your dog, OP. I wish your dog a peaceful passing. I'm not sure what I'd want to do with our beloved dog's belongings after he passes... but I just want to send you positive thoughts!!! Hugs to you.

Toys went in the trash.
Crates, beds, and food bowls were washed and put away -- we are thinking we'll get another dog someday, but not sure of the timing.
Food, treats, and medicine were given away on Buy Nothing group on Facebook.

I'm so sorry. OP. It's heartbreaking to lose a pet.

Our dog had bad teeth at the end, so any plush chew toys he had, we tossed.

We gave the medicine we had to the vet and they said they’ll be able to make use of it, I hope for people who struggle to afford because it was about $500 worth of meds!
