The seafood section at Whole Foods (at least the one in the Kentlands) has gone downhill the past year or so. Bottomline: I highly recommend O'Donnell's Market. https://odonnellsmarket.com

They even have a counter and a few tables if you do not want to cook your own seafood at home and would rather eat there.

Bonus is you can get some rum buns too! Their baked goods are outrageously good.

OP here--yes we've been to ODonnells. Their salmon is a little on the pricey side but will give them a try. We do like it there

I love Aldi’s salmon. In fact, we are having it tonight. For the price and flavor, it’s the best value around!

OP here had no idea Aldi sells salmon. That does look good--will check it out.

We eat this every single week. I’ve had salmon that cost far more that wasn’t half as good. I don’t know how they are producing such good salmon for that price, but you can’t beat it for a weeknight dinner.

WF. The frozen Atlantic salmon.

HMart or New Grand often. WF in a pinch but it seems to be lower quality and they just are much less skilled at fileting or cutting nice steaks.

Costco
South mountain farm
Occasionally we find a farmers market with a fish stand

When we were in Alaska on a cruise years ago, we discovered this place when we were in Juneau. I order salmon about once/year and stock up the freezer. This stuff is wild-caught, flash frozen on the ship and about as fresh as you can get. So worth it.

Also their lox is excellent.

Is this a Kirkland brand of frozen salmon filets?
Assuming PP buys the same one I do, it’s the wild caught Alaskan sockeye salmon: https://www.costco.com/kirkland-signature-wild-alaskan-sockeye-salmon%2C-5-oz---7-oz-portion%2C-3-lbs.product.100441201.html
NP here, I buy this one too. If I want fresh I usually buy from Teeter.

Thanks. I’m not a sockeye fan — but love salmon and big Costco shopper. I’ll keep looking.
