I’ve worked really hard to make money. Often to the detriment of being a well rounded person.

I’ve been at the center of the action for many younger years in my life and I’m to the point where I just want to see people have a good time while remaining in the background. Picking up the check is an easy way to do it. That’s why we invite friends to the country club. Because they enjoy it and our kids enjoy it. No need to reciprocate and you should never feel like you owe anything.

I truly get a ton of satisfaction out of hosting people and knowing they are having a good time.

NP. Curious to know why the invite gets revoked when guests insist on paying for themselves?

Because it’s annoying AF. We invited you as our guest. Especially when they ask how much they owe. I don’t know and I am not going to take the time to find out, I said don’t worry about so don’t worry about it.

We’re happy to have your company and we don’t want anything in return.

We use our club very often to entertain in the summer because we rarely entertain in our home. We don’t really like having a bunch of people in our home and all the cooking and preparations are tiresome. By going to our club, we can just focus on hanging out with our friends and having a great time with them.

Um, there are these things called restaurants and bars and lounges...

Take them out to dinner to a restaurant.

Same.

We never expect anything in return. If someone wanted to treat us to dinner that would be fine but not necessary.

Just general reciprocity is great - invite our family over for a dinner/ casual BBQ some time. No need to reimburse or match the spending or anything.

This. I am using the club essentially as an extension of my households hospitality, but I don’t need to do any preparation, work around nap time, etc. I never give a seconds thought to being paid back any more than if I invite you to my house I don’t expect you to pay me back for the wine.

I don’t like hosting people at my house for dinner - our club is stress free for me so happy to host and don’t expect anything in return. As far as f&b minimum, that’s covered very quickly so anyone saying that is likely trying to make you feel better. At ours if for some reason you weren’t meeting it, you can but wine to go at wholesale prices

If they are people you like you should be doing half the inviting/hosting. Whether it’s a meal at your house or going to some where and picking up the tickets. It shows you have an equal level of interest and don’t just want to see them for the perks they can give. I know lots of people don’t do this but I personally try hard to keep it roughly half and half.
