Agree Op. I don't ser the appeal of true camping.

Sorta like that poster who comes on the Travel Forum every year and doesn't understand how people like the beach or Disney.

Yep. That's why I never do it. I've done things CLOSE to camping enough times to know it's not for me. I stayed in a cabin on an island for a week with my class in 6th grade. Hated that. Went to keep a friend company as she did swim races over a weekend - we stayed in a cabin that was very bare bones.

Don't go camping, OP. Nature is not for everyone. You want me to go for a stroll with you after dinner during winter to look at people's Christmas lights? I'm jewish, and will happily do that. You want to go on a brisk walk first thing on an autumn morning? I'm there for you. You want me to hike up a dirt mountain for two hours to get to the top and look at a view? Sure, what the heck. But camping? Not for me.

No necessarily. We are far from poor and have camped.

I will say I absolutely hate car camping. But I do love backpacking/country camping.

There are so many beautiful places that you can only see if you backpack in.

But to each their own. If you hate all camping then don't go.

Same. I love camping, but would never force someone to go if they hated it. Also camping in the summer — WHY? Gross. Cool weather only, please.

I like staying at a fancy lake house nestled between mountains in a woodsy environment. Bonus points for a charming town with a legit food scene within a 30-45 minute drive.

Our compromise is a small pop-up camper + small shower tent with solar shower bag.

I love camping but why would you go camping if you hate it? One parent is plenty.

Same. This is why I refuse to do it. Life is too short to n e miserable ON PURPOSE.

Came here to post this, exactly. I love all of these things, but I don’t want to sleep in a tent in the woods.

I like to camp in hotels.
