I’ve heard this term used many times when families are divorced and an ex speaks about the children’s mother.

The only thing I find odd is doesn't the MOB (mother) have anyone else she can dress shop with? Sisters, BFFs?

Unless she is besties with stepmom, I find it weird she would invite her for such a special occasion shopping adventure.

Gawd, tough crowd. OP was attempting a breezy post about a good relationship between a mother and stepmother. It doesn't happen every day. It does sound like the parents have reservations; let's hope they're wrong about the upcoming marriage. Though the divorced know a thing or two about mismatches, no doubt.

I thank God that my dad & stepmom and mom get along. It has made my life and their interaction with my children so easy.
OP, great job that you and “Bio” mom get along☺️ I hope that y’all were able to find that special dress. lol

OP, I think it’s great that your SD’s mom wants to shop with you for dresses for the wedding. Divorce is never ideal for the kids, but it is worlds better in situations like yours. I also see nothing wrong with the fact that you are all in agreement that the marriage is not one to be jazzed about and it sounds like that was handled appropriately—mom and dad expressing it once and only once. I tho k you guys sounds like a great blended family.
