Just a disgrace that the City’s middle schoolers are expected to learn in these conditions. Alexandria repeatedly fails its students in every imaginable way.

What is it with ACPS' inability to have clean bathrooms and soap? It was the same at George Mason the entire time my kids were there.

Even during the return after Covid

Kids vandalize bathrooms with the soap.

If that's true, you'd think the bathrooms would be less filthy.

whether there is a research methods course where a science advisor is available to guide students about independent projects.

I don't know about 8th grade, but all 7th graders had to do an independent science project. I can't say that the teacher provided a huge amount of guidance, beyond a very lengthly document about what was expected. My child still did well enough to move on to the Northern VA Regional Science fair (but not beyond that).

We've been told by quite a few people that kids should take honors classes as the "regular" are basically remedial.

My son has taken all honors courses at GWMS (he is a rising 8th grader). The difficult level has varied widely. Some were a fair amount of work, some were basically what I would expect from an ordinary middle school course.
