My HS kid has a ginormous Adidas backpack. Seems to work.

At Whitman, almost everyone has a big North Face/Adidas/Nike book bag with a water bottle holder, a laptop slot, and a slot for hand sanitizer and accessories. I would imagine it’s very similar at the other schools as well. Many kids still use lockers and there’s no stigma attached to it, but I still highly recommend these book bags or something similar for any high school student.

My current 10th grader would never carry a jansport. They are a meme/joke to her and her friends. (I have fond memories of mine circa 1990-2995 and They have great reviews on Amazon. ) a lot of kids last year had a couple of different models.of The north face. My kid had an under armor hustle. She liked that style because it had a compartment for her gym shoes in the bottom . We Bought at Dicks sporting goods a few days before school started (after returning TNF that was too small for her change of clothes and shoes. It only really lasted 1 year. We will get her another one/color this year. It was $50.

There is no Madison HS in MCPS.
