I’ve only ever heard Emmeline as Emma-Line. FWIW, my name is Emily, and my mom wanted me to name DD Emmeline, but it felt way too similar. So your concerns are justified IMO.

I like both but I think Emmeline will run into issues w/ pronunciation and spelling. I have a name that is not common and have spent my life correcting people. It really is annoying. Though I think they're both beautiful names, I'd pick Ivy. You could use Emmeline as her middle name.

Emme-lean is terrible

Emme-line is ok

Ivy is better.

My daughter's full name is Emme. My pick is Emmeline!
Have you considered Elodie?

I've had Ivy on my list for a while too and have always loved it.

Which do you like better? Emmeline could also be spelled Emeline but I think I like two Ms better. Opinions?

Probably. Please, don’t.

Why Ivy for December?

Ivy, I guess.

You can also use Ivy as a nickname.

Emmeline is a beautiful British name, however be prepared for the possibility Emmeline decides to be another Emma or Emily. Are you okay with a super common nickname? Ivy is also a really nice name and it's easier to pronounce. I agree with a previous poster-Ivy would make a great name for a December baby. You could also use both names. Ivy Emmeline and Emmeline Ivy both sound nice but I prefer Ivy Emmeline.

I’d say go with the name you’ve always loved.

I like both. Normally I'd recommend the longer name with nickname options, but the nicknames for Emmaline are very common so I'm not sure about that -- I think I'd just use Emmaline. Ivy is very to the point but also pretty and romantic, which is a good combo.

I honestly think you can't go wrong.

Emmaline was going to be out girl name. I wanted Emma, but also wanted something a bit more traditional and longer so she would have options.

My daughter’s middle name is Emmaline. It’s a family name for us. She doesn’t use it often because it’s her middle name but whenever she says it, people aren’t confused. It’s so similar to Emma, which was hugely popular, and Caroline. I think it feels familiar.
