Fun night spots in Philly that I used to enjoy include:

Franklin Mortgage for cocktails
Ranstead Room for cocktails
Parc for the see and be seen vibe
Good Dog for the burger
Bob & Barbara's Lounge for dive
McGillin's for old Irish pub from the Civil War
World Cafe Live for music
Victor Cafe for singing waiters
My favorite restaurants include Vetri, Friday Saturday Sunday, Barbuzzo, Vernick Food and Drink, Amada, Talula's Garden, Vietnam, Zahav

The Loews, the Canopy and the Doubletree are in Midtown Village which is a fun, convenient, LGBTQ-friendly area with a lot of great restaurants from oysters to Mediterranean to Mexican.

Either is OK, the area around the convention center can be a little dodgy the same way it is in DC.

You clearly knew what they meant but had to be a ****

The area is completely fine. Yes it's a city with a lot of people.

Center City is basically the entire downtown. If you limit by neighborhood or landmark, we might be able to give you suggestions. Also, what do you mean by night spots? Clubs? Restaurants?

I grew up in Phila and visit often.

I have personally stayed at Hyatt Centric, near RS. Eat at Vetri Pizzeria directly across from front door.

I am not out and about 10 pm to 7 am, but felt safe.

I also have stayed on Broad St….aka Av of the Arts equal to 14 th St. Doubletree, Notary, more.

The Palomar also is fine…not sure what brand’s voucher you have.

Magic Gardens is worth a visit. Tours with Phila by Foot are fun. If you go to the Rocky steps and statue, please go inside the museum as well. Many, many more good museums. Take an uber and reserve to eat at Laser Wolf. Happy to add more ideas if you want!

We stayed in Centre City. I took the kids to the Franklin and to the tree tops park.

The tourist areas i.e. Rittenhouse Square, Old City and Center City are safe. Manayunk in NW Philly is safe, as well as several residential neighborhoods.

Avoid Kensington, the area near Temple University, anything near the “Fern Rock Transportation Center.” Don’t go west of 46th street, roughly speaking.

Adding, also avoid the the West Mount Airy general area. Not entirely safe.
