It’s funny to see how common this is! DD is 2.5 and has very rarely put her lips on our faces. She prefers to offer the cheek too. I see her kiss her dolls and pictures of kids in books, though. DH’s theory is that DD believes kisses flow downward to the little ones.

I have three. The youngest is 15 months and is super into giving hugs now but not kisses. The older two weren't interested until more into toddlerhood, like 2-3.

My daughter was 10-11 months old when she started giving hard hugs and kisses. Never experienced that with my son until he was closer to 1.5 years old.

DD is 14.5 months and has started to give hugs more regularly since she started walking a month ago, but not on demand. She was into the open-mouth slobber kisses a few months ago, not so much these days.

LOL - our 9mo DS does this, although since he's teething he ends up chewing on my chin as often as not.

DD began giving kisses at 9 months, but they were pretty slobbery until 12 months. She's 14 months now and I know I can count on getting a few kisses each day, but hugs just started a couple months ago and are still pretty rare.

Mine does it and he is 4 1/2 months old. He is so advanced in all aspects too

10.5 months for smootchies. 12 months for hugs from our DD. we would say "give mommy a smootchie" and she would lean in and smootch.

My DD does the exact same thing! Started around 15 months, still does it a few months later. To be fair, we thought it was adorable, so we have kind of encouraged it. She'd be justified in thinking that is how babies are supposed to kiss at this point.
