A difference in style, maybe. The former is blatant and aggressive. The latter lets the service die a slow death by failing to incentivize public service or address the shortcomings of the existing workforce.

I’m in the excepted service, but I thought I had job protections. So I guess I don’t know enough about this to worry.

Thank you for posting this pp. I will call my Senator about it.

I am a fed in a policymaking managerial position, and I would certainly be at risk, even with 20 years in. Aside from that, all American should be concerned about Schedule F. Our Federal workforce has its major flaws, but having a professional and non-political federal service is the backbone of this country. I am so glad to see this legislative initiative bc most of the American public will not know/understand/care about the implications of this topic.

That’s funny. I thought the Obama years were not good, when he gave us no raises and the sequester happened (Agencies didn’t pay back lost pay in the sequester, so my husband and I each lost a week of pay that year).

I’m an IT Policy Analyst in the Competitive Service. It’s only for Excepted Service.

The point of schedule F is to transfer people from the competitive service to a position more like the excepted service where you can be fired without cause. You have “Policy” in your position title. Expect it to be designated as schedule F.

Again. I am not concerned. I have worked in both Excepted and Competitive Service. They were not as different as you’d imagine. Also I’m a career federal employee with a heavy IT background and a technical degree, also PM and Agile Scrum Master certifications, so I will move to another role (which I hope to soon anyway because policy is not my favorite).

My point is that I’m tired of people acting like Republicans ate the threat to Federal Employment when Democrats have been no better.

Make sure you vote the right ticket. This Nov and in 2024. That is how to fix this and soooo many serious things.

This Schedule F should be applied to the entire federal government workforce especially lower level jobs

There will be much bigger problems if Trump or some other lunatic R wins.
