This is no longer true. There are so many new lasers on the market that can be used on all skin tones, even very dark skin.

Electrolysis can tremendously scar the upper lip area and kill the collagen, which will cause the area to age faster when she gets older.

I’ve had electrolysis with two different, but equally honest, Electrologists over the years and they both told me that the don’t think it’s a good idea to do the upper lip. Laser is better for the area and if it’s blonde hair (like mine on my upper lip) you should just shave it.

YES to everything PPs have said about the danger of lasering dark skin. You must see a provider who is experienced with dark skin. I see Sue at Capital Laser. She’s a bit kooky, but she is extremely skilled and careful. She is also Asian herself, and Asian skin can be some of the hardest skin to laser, so she has a healthy respect for the damage lasers can do to dark skin.
