Those were 2 frats that disbanded years ago.

They were disbanded 4 years ago, according to the article, due to events 9-12 years ago. It's pretty recent history.

Swarthmore College faced days of protests after the internal documents were leaked including dozens of students occupying the Phi Psi fraternity building....

The closures come after two campus publications released what they say are fraternity videos and photos provided by an anonymous source last month. The material is dated between 2013 and 2016, and contains racist, homophobic and sexist comments – allegedly from brothers of Phi Psi. It also appears to show men kissing, groping and touching women who may not have known they were being recorded.

There's even reference to Delta Upsilon having a "rape attic" in its building. One Swarthmore senior showed us what she describes as a similar room at Phi Psi where she claims she was sexually assaulted in their building her freshman year."

This is not uncommon. Swat has a very intense, competitive vibe; Haverford’s is much more collaborative. Kids often have a strong preference for one over the other.

Most students have single rooms - a real plus. Also in close proximity to Bryn Mawr.

One mother of a Haverford student stated that her daughter was called a "scab and a racist" for wanting to attend class during the strike.

I am also curious about the current climate at Haverford College.

My kid is there. Blissfully happy. Learning a ton. Has close relationships with professors and is very engaged with classes. Loves the closer-knit community of a smaller campus and smaller school. Thought the strike was a fascinating and motivating experience and learned a lot about negotiation, community activism, power, and thinks the school and community have landed in a better place because of it. Also considered Swarthmore but was turned off by the intense vibe. Only complaint after several years is that the food is not particularly good.
