Subject: Fall options for new players
MYI, Great Falls, Falls Church, and Arlington all have good rec programs, depending on where you live in McLean, and what High School you are districted to, you could play with them. Some will have a few fall clinics, some will play McLean Box.

The local club programs also offer different options for skill development during the fall. NL is doing a beginner program, little spartans and ML does clinics (scoopers and rippers).

Subject: Fall options for new players
OP here! Located in McLean, son is rising 3rd grader.
He's already committed to a different travel sport which he has played for 4 years. We are not looking to add an additional travel level commitment for him/our family at this time (nor would it be appropriate for a new player).
We're looking for a rec/house style program where he can learn and develop, and if he takes to it we could consider ramping up then. We do assume that lacrosse will replace his current spring sport.

Last year it was $1,800 for True VA that covered the entire fall practice and fall tournaments, winter sessions, spring and summer tournaments for the local program (I don't know what the poster talking about True VA not playing in summer tournaments). It didn't include HOCO fees for the kids that decided to play HOCO with other True teams. This year most of the programs (except maybe the 2031 team) are going to HOCO so maybe the cost increases some to cover that cost. Maybe the other True programs (DC and Annapolis) in the area have different costs. There were other costs (mostly tournament fees) for kids that played on True's regional and national teams.

Knowing what the STJ charges for other sports travel programs. I can almost guarantee you that the STJ will be more expensive than almost all the other lax programs.

Really depends what your looking to get out of it for your son. True is Nation wide program. The VA one is 2 years old I believe. It tends to be on pricer end.
STJ is completely new program. As previous poster mentioned the Director they brought in is very well know and respected in lax community. Will prob take a few years for program to hit its stride but has some potential.
Honestly either could be a good option. IMO STJ might be great for those looking to dip toes into travel and work with someone very focused on player development. And less cost then True VA

The SJ coach is excellent and will build a great program. True may be more established.
