I kind of know what you mean- I like to shower after a long distance bus while traveling but not after taking a metro bus a few miles.

Yes, I take the bus to work then strip down in the women's restroom, scrub my entire body with clorox wipes, wash my hair in the public sink, redress and go to work.
(But, seriously, I've taken public transit throughout covid, I touch all the surfaces, have never gotten covid and rarely get sick.)

My kid did a science fair project where he swabbed various surfaces in public, and the ones from the metro escalator handrails and metro rail bars in the cars grew some of the gnarliest looking cultures. The petri dish that grew the fewest cultures was the toilet seat of the men's room of a Starbucks.
When I did this it was the school pay phone receiver
That said, I do wash my hands but do not take a shower.

How about after getting to work in the AM? Why after your PM commute but not your AM commute?
