jeez, there are dozens of nanny posts by women who obviously just finished nannying for some family, can't you just inteview more nannies? Even care.com has better candidates than you are describing, And no, do not just leave the kids, work from home for couple of weeks and then see if you are comfortable leaving the kids with anyone.

This 50 year old has red flags all over her. Her kids are grown yet she hasn’t worked since before kids?! Even as teenagers she didn’t “work” anywhere? Not even retail part time where you could speak with a former supervisor not her friends? What are you offering looking for to attract 2 duds? If these are your top 2 picks I’d seriously consider keep looking or do daycare. I wouldn’t hire let alone consider these 2 top quality candidates.
I totally agree. SO much has changed as far as safety standards in the last 10 years +. I didn't see how old your kids are OP, but sleep safety, car seat safety, even new things like video monitors and sleep sacks and baby led weaning, stardards for care of BM and formula.

While she may not have had recent experience working in the Nanny field > she has been a parent and has raised her own kids.
That childcare experience supersedes Nanny experience imo as it shows she has navigated all the developmental stages of a child’s life.
It would be tough to hire a young Nanny who has not parented a child.
I prefer more wisdom + life experience.
Plus fifty is not elderly and I would like a fit, 50 yr old.
Has both energy as well as experience.
Win win. 👍🏽
I'll take the nanny who didn't have kids over the one who wasn't living with them.
