Because a brash $100K gas guzzling v8 rig says you and or your husband makes nice cheddar, while the basic Grand Cherokee is just a middle class family hauler.

Why not just get a high trim Grand Cherokee L. Better form factor, not as big, still three rows, cheaper.

I think the Grand Wagoneer is really handsome in an Americana sort of way. Plus it's huge if you have a lot of kids, car pool frequently and/or have a weekend vacation home to travel to frequently. I wouldn't expect it to be a vehicle single yuppies or DINKs (who often rely on street parking or a tiny garage) or empty nesters would find very compelling, of course.

Your question doesn’t make sense. You don’t lose $100k when you drive a $100k new SUV. And with the tax loopholes, a lot of UMC are driving these rigs for minimal out of pocket.

Yes they are re over $100k. I cannot fathom why anyone would buy this car.

For one, a lot of people make a lot of money where a car is a totally insignificant expense. And also because these huge SUVs weigh a lot, so they qualify for that special income tax write off. And the rich people who can afford them like to one-up their neighbors and social circle with the latest and greatest. Since the Tahoe, Navigator, and Yukon are a bit stale, they go get the new $100K Jeep GRAND Wagoneer. Also one-ups their friends who only have the regular Wagoneer.

How much does someone have to make for a 100k car to be a "totally insignificant expense?" Because I don't think that is "a lot of people" by any definition. 95 percent of people in MoCo make <250k a year, clearly not an income at which someone would buy a 100k car.
