Kind of the opposite. Giving people free money allows people the breathing room to look for better jobs.

Multiple pilot studies have shown that people who receive these subsidies do better at landing higher paying jobs. They don’t have to jump on the first offer they come across, and they have more flexibility to drop that second shift/job to look and interview for better work.


Are there longitudinal studies to see if those benefits were maintained after the Guaranteed Income stopped?
