Lol, upon finding a wrinkle or two that was missed after ironing, I am guilty of considering steaming it while it was on, but resisted.

I agree that steaming does not replace the need for an iron.

In my retail days, I used a Jiffy steamer. It works, but it takes a long time with certain fabrics. Ironing is better for most items.

Thanks!

I have a steamer and an iron. Set-in wrinkles and need to look polished, I use the iron. Just a refresh or softening a sweater or linen or an air-dried item, I use the steamer. Steamer is also great for removing pit smells from winter wool coats.

OP for linen, I literally mist with water and hang it to straighten. It is one of those miracle fabrics that just straights itself out. Obviously it also wrinkles easily but that relaxed look is why people love linen.

Is this better than other steamers? I’ve used a couple of different steamers and did not have much luck with either. I’m not skilled with an iron, so I’d love to use a steamer effectively

The only thing I think a steamer is superior for is chiffon or really delicate material that you want wrinkle free but not creased

Couldn't disagree more - my Propress https://www.propress.co.uk works much better then my steam iron, in fact I simply don't use the iron any more, the iron's gathering dust in the laundry!
