Lol. No. There are red areas in the western part of the state, but the red population doesn’t come close to the blue.

Although, as pp noted, even as a blue state, Mass often elects (and re-elects) republican Governors. Needless to say, they are moderates.

Yet idiots cannot see that the progressive agenda is not what the Democrats are trying to pass....and apparently people prefer an ethno-christian fascist country instead.

A lot of blue states are about to turn purple. The progressive agenda is a big negative for most Americans.

What? Where do you hear this?

I have my sources. Ami Hober should have won in 2020, he got lucky.

Do you know who the current governor is?

Schultz will not win, even if she wins the primary. It will never happen. Md is not letting a Republican in as Governor, especially now.

Gerrymandering is a feature of democracy that will always be with us, there is no real way to avoid it. Right now we as a country are struggling with a problem created by technology, as improved information technology now allows extremely high-resolution gerrymandering that goes way beyond what was historically commonplace. That said, there is no easy or obvious way to control it, although some of the excesses could surely be reined in.

Maryland is unquestionably a blue state, but that obscures the progressive-vs-centrist debate that is probably going to be the most important political development over the next few years.

Competence is also very important in elections for state governors and you often sees moderate governors of the opposing party in states when such a candidate is particularly strong.

Not even remotely. Democrats have gerrymandered the state for years, even more effectively than Republicans in Wisconsin.

The state is firmly blue. Hogan is just a reaction to that blueness and the only way the Eastern Shore and Western MD can actually influence MD politics.

Not to mention that whiny Millennials keep moving here in droves.

Nope, not only has Wisconsin gerrymandered a 50-50 state to a 70% electoral advantage (Maryland isn't a 50-50 state) they also changed the rules, so appointments from Scott Walker do not expire until the replacements are confirmed, but with a gerryamndered majorry, no one new can be confirmed.

So they have locked out the Democratic Governor from making appointments or you know, governing.

NC republicans pulled the same tricks when confronted with an incoming democratic governor. Stripping the governor of a power while gerrymandering districts to ensure republican majorities in perpetuity is a big part of the republican playbook in states turning purple. If they don't have the power to pull that off, they just push redistricting reform like in Virginia
