Do part-time if you can. That time with your baby is invaluable and I am very thankful that I was able to do it. I was a SAHM when my kiddo was an infant and went back to work part-time in my profession when he was 8 months. Working part-time is truly the best of both worlds.

My first question is, what does your husband want? Would he be ok with daycare? With you staying home? He should have an input. If it was me, I would continue to work. However, I think strongly about both partners bringing in income, no matter how much each makes. If he makes enough money for you to stay home, then you both make enough money for quality childcare.

You’ve worked too hard to get to this point, to echo an earlier poster, start the search for a new employer or plan unpaid leave since you can now afford it. Consider a nanny for the first couple years, it gives you so much more time back with your baby and hire house cleaners and anything else to keep home time family time.

I’m sad that I’ve worked throughout my childrens very young years, but in the long run, the income is good for our family. I also have balance in that I work from home now and see my kids a lot. If you think you will need the money long term or don’t want to be financially dependent on your spouse, keep working.

It will be easier to be a WOHM this time - you will have cash to pay for occasional sitters and stuff like that.

I would try to keep the job for a few months after maternity leave and see. It’s easier to quit than find a job.
