I actually think the anonymity of this board and the negativity permitted is one of DCUM's assets. You get straight answers, no BS. If you're being ridiculous, people will tell you so. No one will do that in real life.

A lot of parent-posters on the teen and college forum are ready to explode. And it seems a lot of old, angry people from politics have to bash parents of very young kids with posts out of nowhere about how gross breastfeeding is or that you (the mother) shouldn’t have had a baby if you still wanted a career.

+1. I honestly think most initial responses to OPs are trying to be helpful, unless the OP has a rude or obnoxious premise in their question. But I agree, the second the OP is rude to people for genuinely trying to help just because they don’t like the feedback given, that’s absurd. Don’t waste people’s time if you don’t actually want feedback. And yes, moving the goalposts happens a LOT around here.

You left out the people who ask "is it okay for me to..." They are usually troll posts.

I have been harsh with posters who drop in to the sns forum and insult sns parents or kids. The posters who refer to kids as chair throwers and worse don't deserve to be here. Not taking it.

To me, the worst are the people who see some ulterior motive in a post. This usually occurs when someone is complaining about a family member. There’s always posters who twist the OP’s words to make it her fault that MIL/SIL/DH did something crappy or say that she is projecting. It’s so unsupportive.
