Bringing drugs into countries is illegal and if you're caught bringing them in, or taking drugs out, your goose is caught. She chose to do something that she knew would have significant consequences if caught. The US president should not intervene on her behalf.
Now do Otto Warmbier.
Trump really screwed that poor boy didn’t he? Russia is plainly using her as a bargaining chip. Ten years is a ridiculous, inhumane sentence. When she gets out after that she’ll be in no condition to resume her career. I think her Russian attorney advised her to plead guilty so they can move forward with the exchange. Commercial vape pen marijuana is likely Delta 8 which is freely sold at shops in most states including Virginia. Look it up. That being said dumb Americans should consult the State Department advisories before they travel.

Anonymous wrote:The bigger issue isn't the drugs, which she pled guilty to - it is that Russia is trying to use her as a bargaining chip to reduce pressure on themselves over their invasion of Ukraine.
Anonymous wrote:It's not getting involved in drug charges. It's rescuing an American citizen from a dumb mistake. It's something we do for citizens abroad and for people here, too.
