Tan is the sign of sun damage on your skin. But maybe it's natural to age and unnatural not to age. A lot of stuff feels good must be done in moderation - like booze or sugar, less is more.

People still use self-tanner? I thought that went way out of fashion ages ago.

Because the sun feels amazing, self tanner is stinky, and a little color makes many look great. Until you're a 45 year old multiple melanoma survivor with two tween kids who needs to reprioritize how to relax. And how to dress in summer so as not to publicize massive scars. BTDT and hope this saves someone else the pain. Skin cancer is not a joke. It hurts, and surgery recuperation can take months, depending on where it is.

I have skin issues OP, bacne especially, and the thing that helps the most is getting actual sunlight for at least 20 minutes several times a week when it's warm enough. Helps more than soothing baths and medication.

I also have low vitamin D. Yes, I take supplements, but it will shoot up when I actually get sun.

Another bonus is the sun helps relieve depression for me. I would never go to a tanning bed, but had a friend who went just for depression occasionally in the winter.

Yes, I do have some sun damage, but try to protect my face and chest.

People have different reasons for doing what they are doing OP.

It’s so relaxing to lay in the sun and drift off.

I've never found a self-tanner that doesn't stink and/or turn my skin orange. Not even Jergen's which many people recommend. No thanks.

I think OP just wonders why people wreck their skin in the sun. There are reasons apparently.

+1 it’s good for my mental health

I’m late 30s, wrinkle free, tight neck, no sun spots, so I think it’s been fine for me.

Haha just wait. You will see what the sun has done soon enough.

Because I like to actually interact with nature.

Self tanner STINKS to high heaven and stains everything. 10-15 min of sun on your skin is fine for some vitamin D. Also, why do you care?

Give me sunshine and a good book and I'm happy.

Op, is there a bottle for that?
