I love the beach…at a resort…where everything is provided. Gorgeous landscaping, short walks, delicious restaurants and bar drinks, etc.

A rental house where I have to cook, clean, and lug a beach bag and chairs, hard pass.

I like the Caribbean but hate the Atlantic beaches. Snokeling is interesting. Cold, rough water where you can't see a thing is not fun. I also have zero interest in paying a mortgage payment for a week at the beach when I could go to Caribbean for the same.

What I REALLY hate is my chirppy, basic manager who spends half the summer at "OC" and then essentially mocks me for not going there too. It's like high school. I'm happy that she's happy, but it's not for me.

I also hate the beach if it involves sitting all day in an unflattering position in an uncomfortable chair, sweating and being sandy.

When we go to the beach, we take the kids first thing at 7:30-8am and stay until 10:30 or so. Then we ride bikes, get lunch, swim in the pool, take naps or go into town for mini golf, library, shopping. We make dinner at the beach house and eat outside - then head back to the beach around 7pm until sunset. This is tolerable to me.

I hate the beach in summer, but I looove the beach in October and November. To me, it's restorative to sit or walk on the beach when it's not sticky hot and wall-to-wall with towels and people and tents and beach buggies. In October, I can drag my chair out there and read for hours. I can walk and dig my toes into the sand. I can greet other off-season beach-lovers (and their dogs!). I can look out at the horizon and reclaim some peace.

I like it but o lot every few years. Way too boring to do it as the main vacation each year.

My husband hates it. I don’t mind in small doses.

Agree, I have sun sensitive blue eyes. No way can I read on a beach. I need sun glasses on an overcast day.

DP. My eyes are brown but also very sun sensitive. I wear sunglasses practically every day - the glare on an overcast day is so painful.

I hate it. It's hot (SO hot) and sticky and sandy. And I'm somewhat scared of the ocean/undertow. I do like our beach trip, because it's nice to get away for a week and we go with family who we mostly enjoy and who help us with our kids, but the actual beach part of each day is not my favorite.

This. It depends on the beach.

Depends on the season. I hate beach in the summer, too hot. My brain melts. In cooler seasons it is nice to walk on the beach, if there are no sandflies.

I like the Florida west coast beaches because I don't like ocean waves. I also like the beautiful expanses of sugary sand that don't absorb heat. I like to see the west coast beach sunsets because I'm not a morning person. I like to sit and read a book at the beach, cool off occasionally, maybe two hours. I like to walk on the beach for a little while. I like the sound and smell of it.

I don't like it when it's crowded.

Hated the beach my whole life. I burn, I hate sand, I get sun headaches, and I am extremely susceptible to heat stroke. I also fear the ocean due to two traumatic childhood events.

Nonetheless, I go on big family vacations to the beach, but I request a nice group house with a pool, since that's were I'll be, and an area where there is something to do other than go to the beach, which I will not be doing except for a night time walk (with shoes).

I agree with so many of the PPs. I grew up going to the beach every summer and have grown so sick of it - the hot, humid temps, the sticky sand everywhere, the boredom. I MUCH prefer a trip to the mountains, or to a rocky coastline along the ocean or a lake. Love climbing on rocks, swimming in crystal clear (cool) water.
