Not true in my case. I loved my job/career but it was so low paying that we couldn’t afford a good nanny if I went back to work. Like some mothers WOH only for the money, others like me only SAH because of the money.

Weird. Even when we were double biglaw we had an au pair not a “good nanny.” It seems like if you had wanted to find a way, you would have.

Yes, I’m miss working on a team and having stuff to do and getting paid.

I have been back to work since my kids were born and what I do hate is the feeling dividing. I want to be able to throw myself into working OR domesticity. I haven’t found the right balance of job that allows me the ability to flow between.

In hindsight I have regrets over leaving my job when my son was born. I briefly went back but my DH got a better job in a new city and we moved. If that hadn’t happened I would have been able to push through and find balance. Instead my skills have atrophied and it’s affected my confidence.

That said, my DH’s career has gone well and offered us some cool experiences and moves so nothing is perfect.

A little bit. It would be hard to to switch back to “having to go to work” but I do miss making my own money.

+1 My job was OK, but I sat in a cube all day and played around with databases/spreadsheets. I sometimes think it might be nice to go back, but then I think of the lack of vacation time and change my mind.
