I can't help but think none of this really matters. He should have to pay back all the $ to the state as a fine, but it makes no sense to stick him in jail. Who exactly did he hurt?
He hurt all the GT applicants who would have been admitted if not for those stolen seats secured through bribes.
How could you ever show that someone wasn't admitted because of these bribes? How did it hurt them, in a way that could be compensated in a court of law. Putting this guy in jail is a terrible waste of taxpayer $$.

Affirmative action helps all marginalized minorities.
Legacy, connections, donations, etc. are few and far between.
Plenty of groups other than asians have an uphill battle.

Wasn’t the family that bought the house for the fencing coach Asian?

Yes 1 case out of some 70 cases was Asian. Rest were white parents.
Normally, I would not be so petty, but your smug attitude is really annoying me.
Xioning Sui also sounds like an Asian name, so at least 2. The whole list of people involved is not public, so I’m not sure we know how many people of what race and ethnicity are involved. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_college_admissions_bribery_scandal#Discovery_and_charges
It looks like several with Latino last names and Middle Eastern last names. Sounds like it was a wide variety of over privileged cheaters of various races/ethnicities. I know it does not feed into your Asian superiority/victim narrative, though.

That was the point but they lacked the skills to impose a significant sentence on anyone who could really afford a defense. Best and brightest just don't go AUSA anymore.
