Instead of stopping the early wakeups, teach them what to do. My 3.5 year old goes downstairs and knows to color quietly. We basically instilled the fear of god in him if he woke us up or woke siblings. My older two cannot leave the room until their alarms turn green. And then they need to be very quiet until 7am when Dh and I awake. On weekends they know we like to sleep longer (hahaha we have a 5 month old too so that’s a joke). We reinforce this by them losing privileges if they make too much noise or wake us up.

Is he potty trained? Wearing undies at night? Diapers?

OP here. My guess is it’s a deadly combo of needing to pee, dropping the nap, dropping the paci and daylight savings time. It all happened this late spring.

He goes to bed at 7 still because he’s exhausted by then. Pediatrician said he definitely still needs a 7pm bedtime if he’s not napping and is up between 5-6am.

This morning it was a 4:47am request to pee. I’ve been up since then. Going to be a long Fourth.

Dream pee, walk/carry to the bathroom right before you go to bed, then see what time he gets up tomorrow.

OP...I was a 3 year old who got up around that time. My mom still talks about it! Now I'm a 51 year old who gets up at 5 LOL so maybe it's how he is. See if you can gate his room or the hallway where your bedrooms are so he can play quietly for an hour till you get up.

I put a cup of milk in the fridge, a bowl of cheerios on the counter, and showed her how to work the remote. I was ok with a little TV for her while I dozed a bit more.

Yes drop the nap if they still take one.

I will add, with sympathy, that we tried absolutely everything. The only things that helped, in the end, were acceptance and us going to bed earlier.
