I’m not a cat person. However, I am an animal person. Trapping the poor thing and dropping at the shelter is cruel.
A quick google search suggests that cars dislike lavender, lemon and oregano among other plants. Can you plant some of these things OP?

They try to bury it in our flowers beds they have mulch. Then the rain comes and uncovers the foul smelling poop. You can still smell it anyway because their attempt at burying it only covers it with a thin layer that doesn't do anything.


It's not a damn fox. Our back yard is completely gated with a wooden fence and no spots where an animal has been digging. There are cats running all over around though.

Bruh, foxes climb/scale fences like they are nothing. But I believe you that what you're finding is from cats.

We had this problem too OP. But the cats were destructive to our outdoor furniture. After taking pictures of the destruction and their cats at work doing it the neighbor was still letting cats roam. I warned them we were going to trap. So we would trap and bring them over and knock on door. I warned them we would trap and take to shelter. When again nothing was done I trapped and took to shelter. Shelter called them to come get their cats which they never did.

Now no more cats! Better for the environment and the entire neighborhood.

This is so laughable. In my lifetime I've seen almost all the trees in this area cut down. I've seen all the insects killed with insecticides. I wonder if there are any worms left to eat under that manicured grass. There were literally so many bugs in the air that people cleaned their windshields with every tank of gas. (Ever wonder why there are squeegees at every gas station???) Now there are literally none.

If anything, more cats are kept indoors than when I was a kid. This is such laughable nonsense that cats are decimating birds. Human beings are.

I have an exclusively indoor cat BTW.

You can't just show up at the pound and drop off an animal. Even if you do it without speaking to anyone, you're on camera.

The one I volunteer at always tracks down anyone who drops off an animal afterhours as it's a crime in our city.

When you come to drop the animals, you have to provide ID. You'll be able to say you found the cats once but not twice. There will be a record. No one finds the same cat twice - it just doesn't happen. Also, once they have your address from your ID and they scan the cats for a microchip, they'll have your neighbor's address (hopefully) and know what's up.

If this is VA, cats and dogs are considered personal property. It's illegal for you to take them to relocate them or turn them in. You can call an animal control officer to get an animal on your property, but detaining the animal until they get there is illegal and considered an unlawful detention.

Foxes and raccoons can scale fences like cats. No digging required. Unless there’s a whole colony of cats, I think you’re overreacting and you likely just hate your neighbors and want to blame a cat.

I hope you have let the birds/squirrels know not to poop on your property. Maybe get a sign.
