You’re either a troll or on drugs.

When Tony Williams was mayor of DC. He proved that Republican city governance can work.

He was a democrat.

They already run Texas. It is a disaster. Sky high crime rates in all the major cities. You have to drive for 3-6 hours to reach a healthcare facilities for the vast majority of the state. Look at the school shooting fiasco. Those republicans are standing up and telling lies. Oh and let’s not talk about how those republican cops watched and waited as little kids were killed begging for their lives in front of them. I will take a hard pass on letting republicans run anything.

Our problem is that republicans are WAY WAY WAY worse. Cities they run are absolute shitholes. Democrats may have some wacky ideas, but at least they are not going to turn us into the Handmaid's Tale or make it way easier for people to buy assault rifles.

Hell no Republicans should never ever hold office again

Unlike republicans, the democrats running DC have run up a 6 BILLION dollar rainy day fund/surplus and top bond ratings from the three agencies that do this - the envy of every jurisdiction in the country.

Yes, there are issues, like there are in every American city, but we also like bodily choice and "social safety net" services the city offers.

Also remember, DC is both a city and a state in terms of the functions it performs. The best way to fix the problems is to simply grant statehood, carving out the federal core.

I'm for it just out of curiosity. Like would the GOP turn it into a big tax haven or run it like the Vatican?

Like who, Hogan?

He's a guy who many bring up as a sane, "moderate" Republican, and even he has no business touching DC with a ten-foot pole.

No. It would devolve into a demilitarized zone, like it did when Trump took control during the BLM protests. The troops they brought in scared me more than the protestors, and I'm white.
