Be sure to wash them thoroughly before letting them get in contact with your other clothing or carpet even. Lice, eggs, bedbug eggs, toxic chemicals, etc.
Most stores don't launder donations.

My kid and friends are there often! It is completely hit or miss, but they've gotten some amazing things. I've gotten great Levis and a few nice blouses for myself.

one of the great benefits of buying clothes at thrift stores is the benefit to the environment. The above theoretical price comparisons fail to take that into account.

But the suggestions of stores is useful! Though this thread is a little old. Urban Thrift has, sadly, closed.

I have also noticed price of clothing at the thrift stores have gone up significantly.

I love Unique but it’s become like Michaels. I only buy there with a coupon. Mon and Thurs are 25% off days. If you go a different day take something to donate like PP said snd get a 20% coupon. I haven’t seen tshirts for 12.99 it I frequently get my kid under Armour shirts/shorts for $4-$8

12.99 with $25% off for a good quality hoodie is still a good deal imo. Not a Walmart hoodie, I get under Armour and Nike hoodies in there a lot that look like new.


If you shop clearance you can get that stuff new for that price or lower.

Under armour ones are more - maybe closer to $16-$19. Here’s an example of why I don’t think that’s such a good deal.

So paying $16 (low end) to $19 (higher end) minus 25% = $12 for a used one at unique or $16 for a new one delivered to me.
