Any trainer worth a dollar knows how to monitor interaction and won’t be letting your dog loose with multiple others unless they are watching. It’s going to be okay. Send her and enjoy your trip.
(For the record, I’m a trainer, my puppy will be almost exactly 4 months when we go on vacation in July, and I’m boarding her with another trainer who has 3 (intact) dogs and 2 cats and it will be fine!)
Also is this trainer home the whole time or going to be training other dogs? Is it a friend of yours? Just curious why you chose this route vs others. Will your dog be fully vaccinated?
Not home the whole time (she works out of the house). Yes, a friend. No, my dog will not be fully vaccinated yet.
I chose it because I trust her to treat my dog like her own and put solid foundation work on her.

Anonymous wrote:Exposure to other animals at this stage is crucial! I wish we had our puppy around cats more because now she acts psychotic when she sees one on our walk. This is a great socialization opportunity for your dog and with someone experienced. The puppy will have a blast so enjoy yourself.

Anonymous wrote:Trainer option for sure. I know it's stressful for you -- I boarded my pup at 4 months as well -- although only for two nights.
I don't think a house sitter would do an active little puppy justice, honestly. And would never kennel a pup that young.
