I don't believe it is anywhere near that high.
I think talking about all schools together. Yes, probably close to 50 kids to Ivies in total - meaning add up all the kids that Sidwell, GDS, NCS and STA are sending and I bet it is close to 50 (figure 10 from NCS and STA respectively, and then 15 each from Sidwell and GDS). I see 15 on the GDS insta and assume that isn’t everyone.

I count 11 on the NCS page. STA doesn’t have a page but I have heard they are sending 5 to Yale alone. So math tracks to get to 50. And, no I have no idea who are sports recruits, legacy, etc. not making judgments about any schools or saying any of it matters. Only sharing data.
How many aren't legacies or athletes? I'll bet far fewer than 50.
Yes, it's typically a mix of athletes, URMs, children of the famous or very wealthy, and the top few kids in the class academically. It is definitely NOT the top 10% of the class, even if the total adds up to around 10%. I think that's the thing that is disillusioning to many parents at these schools.

Anonymous wrote:Why don't people believe the schools when they say college admissions isn't why you should choose their school? All of the local independent schools emphasize what they can teach your child and the particular fit they offer. None of them say to send your child there to get into an Ivy or HYPS because none of them can deliver that. While I don't recommend it, it is a lot more sensible to ask what they can do to help your kid get into RSI or TASP or NSLI-Y or be competitive in the Regeneron talent search because those are high school programs and success can be directly supported by the school. Plus those programs are far more likely to boost the odds at an elite college than an expensive independent school.
