To me, it sounds natural that the kid is unhappy with her first A- in 8 years and is willing to get rid of this record. It's like you have a white skirt and has a dirty drop on it. It takes her a little while to overcome the negative feeling about it.
I get it. My kid got a A- in 7th grade English and it’s only non A or 4 since kindergarten. He felt bummed over for a while, but gotten over it. It’s covid time and he screwed up his every first book report as he did r know how to do it and didn’t ask for help either. He tired really hard to make up it, which he sort of did but fell short by 0.3 or so to an A. He even requested teacher to give more assignments, but fcps reduced homework/tests during covid and wasn’t enough. Oops. In any case, it’s to everyone has to go through occasionally disappointments and it makes us humble.
